Graphic design unites two things I'm very passionate about: the visual arts and the written word. Together, these two entities can be far greater than the sum of their parts. In addition to a love of layout and fondness for fonts, I have over nine years' professional experience in graphic design and print production management.
My artistic philosophy is that design should be user- and reader-friendly as well as fresh and attractive. There are certain rules that should be learned and mastered before they're broken -- which is where my education and experience come in handy. Stylistic attributes should suit the customer, the product, the message, the audience. Branding and consistency are paramount, but I'm not afraid to jump outside the box.
I take a holistic approach to individual projects. Text, images and all other elements should work together to communicate the intended message or mood. Each project will be considered from the "big picture" perspective of your organization's image and goals, yet the fine details will be attended to carefully.
I am deeply grateful for all past and future support. The Designer Next Door is dedicated to the memory of my grandfather, Leo Leick, Jr., a man of integrity who was successful in both business and life.
